I'm a philosopher by trade, teaching at Pembroke College and St Edmund Hall, Oxford, as well as for a few U.S. programmes here. I intend to look at and try to improve some of the philosophy articles, as a couple of Wikipedia editors have approached me to ask if I should be prepared to help out. Well, I'll give it a try.

After a few attempts to discuss the Philosophy article at its discussion page, I have realised that there is no point. If I had no job or other interests, I might persevere, but I have. I shall perhaps edit here occasionally, but I should really spend more time up-dating my own Web page and editing at Rate Your Music.

Gone away edit

I've decamped to Citizendium, in the hope that it will do what Wikipedia should be able to do but can't because of its toleration of disruptive and non-community-spirited editors. Maybe it will work, and maybe it won't, but I'll do my best to help it. It would be good if other philosophers (and editors in other fields who are similarly frustrated by the battle against those for whom Wikipedia is cheap therapy) would come along too. It needn't be instead of Wikipedia, of course, though for me it is.
