Heatherhill Football Club

Established 2023. Plays in the Southern Football Netball League. Founded off the back of a study conducted by Zac White and Zach Horsley during the Covid Pandemic that focussed on the failing participation numbers of local footballers. Their findings found that over 75% of reserve grade footballers that were not selected in 50% of the games that they were available to play in would either leave their current club. 25% of those players found other clubs and 50% would quit the sport altogether.

With these findings, Heatherhill Football Club was created with the founding committee of Zach Horsley (President) Zac White (Secretary) Stuart B’osher (Treasurer) Ian Miller and Jason Baulch ( General Committee) and entered the Southern Football Netball League as a stand alone team.

Advertising that they will buck the trend of high level commitment, Saturday matches by enabling a better life balance of a shorter preseason, one night of training, regular rotation of players and Friday night matches, the popularity was beyond expectations. A young first time coach Lachlan Avery was appointed as the clubs inaugural coach with David Mullavey and Zac White appointed as co-captains. 49 players participated in the clubs debut season and achieved a 19-1 win/loss season culminating in a come from behind premiership in 2023 against Highett FNC with Aiden Lenehan awarded the best afield medal as well as the clubs Best and Fairest award.
