The Prophecy Keepers The Prophecy Keepers (2008) is a young-adult fantasy novel written by Melaine Bryant. It was originally published in hardcover on November 28, 2008 by Empyrean Hill Books. It is the first book of five in The Prophecy Keepers series.[2] It introduces fourteen-year-old Lisandra Ackart, who lives on the medieval-like world of Earde in the kingdom/continent of Niwengeard. Lisandra learns that she is the Gifted One of ancient legend. This legend, also known as The Sceawian Prophecy, was spoken by Sceawian tens of thousands of years ago. It was then divided up amongst twenty-three Keepers and passed down through the generations until it could be told in full to the Gifted One. Lisandra must find each of these Keepers so she can learn the entire Prophecy before the Dark ones do.

Bryant says her inspiration for The Prophecy Keepers comes from not only her love of reading, but her background in Classical and English literature and languages. She says that she uses old works of Literature symbolically, and as part of an underlying metaphor throughout the series.

A paperback edition of The Prophecy Keepers was released May 15, 2010, and the second book in the series, The Charm of Urizen, was published on December 1, 2009. The third, The Seven Dæmons, is due out in March 2011, and the forth and fifth, The Forests of the Night and Untitled, will be published in December 2011 and 2012, respectively.
