In Vitro Technologies In Vitro Technologies is a Scientific and Medical distribution company specialising in the sale and support of scientific, clinical diagnostic, medical and related products. The company was established in 2002 and is 100% owned by JJ Richards & Sons Pty Ltd. JJ Richards & Sons Pty Ltd was established in 1932 and is the largest privately owned waste and environmental management company in Australia, with revenues in excess of $300 million and employing over 1,200 employees throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In Vitro Technologies has quickly developed a reputation for being one of the most dynamic and successful companies in the Australian scientific, diagnostic, medical and laboratory consumable supplies and equipment. The company's first acquisition was that of Biotek Ltd in early 2003. Biotek, based in Auckland, has operated in New Zealand for over 20 years as a national distributor for medical and clinical diagnostic products. In 2004 In Vitro Technologies acquired Medos. Medos was established in 1958 and has been a well-known supplier in the Australian scientific and medical market for over 45 years. The combined entity has managed to bring together several key international companies.

Currently, the company's products are sold under recognized brand names (e.g. Seahorse BioScience, Buchi, Cole-Parmer and Pierce Protein Research). According to company figures, 46% of its sales are in life sciences, 20% in healthcare, and 34% in industrial/environmental and safety.[3]
