History

edit

Laundryheap was founded in London in 2014 by Deyan Dimitrov with the aim to develop a 24-hour door-to-door laundry delivery model. After 3 years of bootstrapping, Laundryheap secured £2 million in angel investment and a further £1.8 million in crowdfunding in 2017 to expand beyond the domestic UK market.[2]

In 2019, the company was ranked among the top 50 fastest growing UK tech companies by Deloitte and in 2020 it was placed among the top 100 Europe’s fastest growing companies by Financial Times.[3][4] Fuelled by rising demand for professional cleaning services during the pandemic,[5] the company entered several overseas markets in 2020, including the US, Singapore and across the Middle East in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.[6]

In February 2021, the company raised a further £2.5 million in Series A funding led by Sova VC to fuel further growth and expand its fleet of electric delivery vehicles.[7][8]

Operations

edit

As of 2022, Laundryheap operates in 11 countries globally.[9]According to Laundryheap, about 80% of its orders come from repeat customers.[2]
