The Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF) is an international not-for-profit[1] membership association of firms which are engaged in the practice of consulting to management. Founded in 1929 as ACME (Association of Management Consulting Engineers)[2], AMCF is now an integral part of the management consulting industry.[3]
Headquartered in New York, NY, the Association of Management Consulting Firms serves the industry as a resource for information on the management of a consulting practice. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, helping consultants to better understand developments within the profession and to capitalize on new opportunities. Just as consultants help clients manage change within their industries, AMCF helps its members cope with the rapid changes affecting their practices today.
AMCF promotes knowledge exchange and professional standards for the community of management consulting firms around the world. It does this by helping members strengthen their senior management teams through value-driven programs, research, and communications. The association also promotes a better understanding of the profession among the business community, government, academia, and the public. It also serves as the voice of the industry on major issues, representing the profession before government and regulatory bodies, working to improve standards and practices and enabling firms to work smarter.[4]
AMCF represents leading management consulting firms worldwide. Its membership is diverse: large and small firms, traditional management consultants as well as providers of professional services, generalists and specialists, single-office firms along with large multinational organizations.

The Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF) was founded in 1929 as ACME, the Association of Management Consulting Engineers. The founders of the association included the following:
- Edwin G. Booz, founder of both Booz Allen & Hamilton and Booz & Company[5]
- Marvin Bower, named the "father of modern management consulting" by Harvard Business School; a leader with McKinsey & Company[6]
- H.B. Maynard, founder of H.B. Maynard & Company[7], now owned by Accenture[8]
- Richard M. Paget, Cresap McCormick & Paget, Towers Perrin
- Kurt Salmon, founder of KSA, Kurt Salmon Associates, a firm owned by Management Consulting Group[9]

According to the AMCF bylaws, any firm which engages in the practice of management consulting may be considered for membership, and in turn enjoy the rights and privileges of an AMCF member. Some of the most recognized members of AMCF include:

The association is well-known for its strong Code of Ethics. According to their website, AMCF's Code of Ethics conforms with recent regulatory and legislative initiatives and assures the users of consulting services that AMCF members are publicly committed to providing the highest quality work. Member firms and their staffs subscribe to this Code of Ethics.[11]
