About Myself edit

My name is Juan Robles-Gil Aleman. I was born in 1989 in Mexico City, Mexico and started my musical training at the age of 11 taking private instruction on Classical guitar and alto saxophone. My training was from the beginning both classical and jazz, which exposed me to many styles of playing. I have been an active performer in many different ensembles including the Pan-American University Orchestra, the Pan-American University Chamber Orchestra, City Beat Big Band, and Marakaame Jazz Fusion Quintet. With such ensembles I have toured internationally around many different cities representing Mexican music including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fresno, Chicago, Washington, Bilbao, Torreciudad, Madrid, Burgos, London, Cambridge (UK), besides playing in the most prominent Concert halls in Mexico including “Sala Nezahualcoyotl”, “Sala Blas Galindo”, “Ollin Yoliztli”, “Chapultepec Castle” and many more. My performances with such ensembles also include presentations at Governmental institutions around the country in the presence of important political figures such as Jose Luis Soberanes (president of the Human Rights commission) and the current president of Mexico: Felipe Calderon. I have made several recordings with the Pan-American University Orchestra to raise funds to help the poorest communities of the country and have participated in many concerts in poor community settings with the goal of spreading the love for Mexican Classical Music. I also participated as a soloist for private social events held in the German, Japanese and Irish embassies in Mexico City. I am an active participant as a student in the International Music Festival Cedros-UP (FICUP) held in Mexico City. During the 5th FICUP (2007) I met Dr. Susanne Hanzer during a Music Therapy Conference and was convinced that Music Therapy was the path to follow. I decided to pursue a Bachelor in Music Therapy at the renowned Berklee College of Music. In 2008 I was accepted into Berklee College of Music and was awarded the Berklee Writing and Composition Scholarship. Currently i am focusing on a dual major program of Contemporary Writing and Production and Music Therapy with expected graduation 2012.
