Finally Committed to a Wikipedia Account.

edit

I have been contributing to Wikipedia for several years. Today, I bit the bullet; I created an actual wikipedia account.

Prior Edits

edit

I made many edits to the Wine Train, where I used to work. I, also made several edits to the MET Railroad ("Modesto and Empire Traction"). Edits to the the Wine Train site was particularly challenging, as the Wine Train railroad system map was completely out of date.

Editing a railroad map

edit

Editing a railroad map in Wikipedia isn't straight-forward. The Wikipedia Route diagram template system involves strings of mark-up codes, often with unpredictable results. It is my understanding that Wikipedia has subsequently replaced the mapping system that I had been using, with a system that is (apparently) much easier to use.

Oxenforde

edit

I may have an old account with only one "e" at the end of my user name. If so, that password is long gone. Apparently, I never associated an e-mail address with that old account—so I won't be able to recover it. Not that I did much with that old account.

Paddy West

edit

Paddy West was a scoundrel that lived in the mid-nineteenth century in England. He is the source of many wild stories, and at least two songs. He is probably a fictional character or an amalgamation of several different scoundrels.

  • The Paddy West Polka (song)
  • Paddy West Shanty (song)
  • Paddy West (boarding house keeper) <-- an article about the scoundrel
  • Paddy West School of Seamanship <-- a modern theater company in San Francisco, that sings 19th-century sea shanties
This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding these Wikipedia articles:

I know the composer of the Paddy West Polka, he is a friend of mine. We often sing this song in public. I am a member of The Paddy West School of Seamanship.
