I have created an account simply to fight bias in articles I come across over time. Bias is an unfortunate trap that many inadvertently fall into. The following types of bias are those that I seek to correct;
- selection bias - where only one side of a polarised situation is covered.
- coverage bias - when one side of a polarised situation is presented with greater focus or greater representation.
- framing bias - when words or phrases used demonise a party to the situation, thus diminishing their views and standing.
Everyone has a right to an opinion, to be heard, and to not be belittled, discredited unfairly or effectively silenced because people disagree. Having an opinion won't always get what you want. That is the nature of democracy. So we should all be willing to listen and debate the content of their opinion, not the person itself.
