Obarra (Zaragoza, 1974) is a Spanish artist who develops his artistic work with conceptual photography based on thoughts, texts, poetry. His work focuses on social and cultural issues, especially related to identity, diversity, freedom, and communication. His style is characterized by the use of contrasts and symbols, always from a positive and conciliatory perspective.
Among his most outstanding projects are Women, butterflies and flowers, a work in which he highlighted the evolution of women’s rights and freedom by creating a symbolism with the metamorphosis of butterflies.
Hijab, a series of portraits of Muslim women that show the diversity and richness of their expressions, beliefs, and way of dressing. It collects the meaning of this garment to defend the freedom of its use or non-use. As long as it is from a perspective of true freedom.
