D.M. Rosner (born 1967), American non-fiction and short story author.

Life

D.M. Rosner grew up in Bridgeport. Her first articles and essays appeared in The Bridgeport Post (now The Connecticut Post ) while she was still in high school. She worked a news reporter for former Bridgeport radio station WJBX while attending college, and is a graduate of Fairfield University. She currently resides in Florida.[1]

Writing

In the late in the late 1990s and through mid-2000s, Rosner gained recognition for her essays about building lasting writers’ groups, which appeared in The Writer,[2] and The Writer’s Handbook,[3] among other trade publications. She is a founding member of The 6’ Ferret Writers’ Group[4] (founded 1989) and served as editor and co-author of Don’t Forget to Write! A guide to building a lasting writer’s group.

When her younger child was diagnosed with autism, the focus of her writing shifted to autism awareness and parental encouragement. Her first essay on the subject appeared in A Cup of Comfort for Parents of Children with Autism, and her children’s book, The China Doll, was released in 2007.

Rosner’s published short stories have been in the fantasy genre, and have appeared in the Dead Promises anthology and the Mensa Bulletin.

Awards

Several of Rosner’s short stories have won minor recognition, including the 2007 and 2008 Mount Dora Writing Contest[5] and Inscription Magazine's "Lifting the Veil" contest in 2000. Two of her stories also reached the finalist level of L. Ron Hubbard’s [Writers of the Future] contest in 2006.
