Air Guitar UK (AGUK) is the UK's only officially Air Guitar World Championships affiliated air guitar championships[1], and part of the Air Guitar World Championship Network[2]. Each year, the UK Air Guitar Champion is sent by AGUK to Oulu, Finland, to take part in the Air Guitar World Championships.

History

edit

AGUK was founded in 2006 by Zac 'The Magnet' Monro, twice world-champion and the only air guitarist ever to take the title more than once. His aim was to bring the wisdom of air guitar to the UK's fair shores, and to ensure that the United Kingdom would always be represented in the Air Guitar World Championships.

Air Guitar Heroes

edit

The Official UK Air Guitar championship crew like to keep their hand in between competitions by running Aireoketm nights, where kareoke "gets its furry little butt kicked". These are far more relaxed and informal than the competitions: anyone can sign up, pick the song of their choice and rock the entire thing out in front of a cheering crowd - and it's not just limited to air guitar. Aireoke nights in the past have featured air drummers, air pianists and entire air bands.

Air Guitar UK Network

edit

Air Guitar UK was originally based entirely in London, with contestants from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales required to make the arduous journey all the way to England's capital. However, AGUK have done their best to rectify this situation, by extending regional heats to our repertoire, and spreading the British air guitar love.

Air Guitar Scotland
