Purpose

edit

An enclosure or case specifically designed to cultivate orchid plants in a home. Orchidariums are used to create a specific set of environmental parameters to mimic the growing conditions of specialized orchids species in the wild such as orchid plants that require consistently high humidity and cool temperatures. An orchidarium should have integrated systems to control and regulate the growing environment with in, such as full spectrum lighting, fans for air circulation, an exhaust fan for temperature control and automated watering and misting for humidity control. Orchidariums are ideal for growing miniature orchid plants that require specialized conditions such as consistently high humidity and cool temperatures like Lepanthes, Telipogons, Masdevallias and Oxyglosum section Dendrobiums.

Asthetics

edit

Orchidariums can be planted to look like a natural environment by creating a back drop of cork bark or tree fern slabs then adding vines, branches and live moss. Orchid plant are then planted directly into the live moss to create a beautiful naturalistic display. Orchidariums can be used like a small indoor green house with step benches for potted plants and screen wire frames to hang mounted plants. Orchidariums can be constructed by handy people or purchased from a quality builder like Acme Orchidarium.
