Olfactory Nerve edit

The olfactory nerve is the first cranial nerve (CN 1) out of a total of twelve. It is an afferent sensory nerve, receiving sensory signals from the outside world and sending them to the brain. Specifically, the olfactory nerve sends signals of olfaction, or smell.

Olfactory receptor neurons send nerve impulses about odors to the central nervous system.
