Oakfield School is a thriving middle school perched on the edge of the Mendip Hills in the growing market town of Frome, Somerset. Oakfield is currently developing a piece of unused land behind its new music , ICT and Maths building. One section, at the top of the area, has already been developed into a school garden by a group of pupils (Garden Club)led by science teacher Mr J Griffiths.

The rest of the unused land slopes down towards the school's perimeter steel fence. This section consisits of flattened rubble with only 5 cm of top soil cover. Creative thinking has led to the idea that this area could become a performance space and sensory garden with sculptures made in workshops run by local artists by local raft scented 'wildlife freindly' plants,http://www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces/ apple trees and indiginous shrubs.

The performance stage area will be a large patio made from donated stone from a local quarry. Some areas will be left 'un stone laid' so that cement can be poured in and groups of pupils can make mosaics.
