Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1993 was the thirty-eighth edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU), host broadcaster Telefe. The edition was hosted in the Estadio Cubierto Newell's Old Boys, in Rosario, Argentina, as last year's winner, The Bahamas, refused to host the contest for a second year in a roll, an offer also denied by the runner up Uruguay, offers to host the contest came from three different countries: Argentina, Puerto Rico and the United States, with the argentinian bid being the accepted one.

Host picking

edit

Eight argentinian venues bidded to host the event, the italic bids were shortlisted and the bolded bid was the selected one from the shortlist.

Relegations

edit

Continuing the relegation method implemented last year, this edition saw three more countries being relegated, those being Dominican Republic, Peru and Suriname.

This edition saw the return of the American Virgin Islands after a twelve year absence, however, Haiti withdrew from this edition due to budget reasons.
