Rocky Mountain Coastersis a wodden roller coaster manufacturer based in Idaho [1]. Their first project was an extensive renovation of the Tixas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas, rebuilding it has a hybrid rollercoaster with steel track on wooden supports.
Products
editRocky Mountain Coasters currently have two wooden coaster products. The topper track replace the top layers on traditional wooden track with a still beam. The Iron Horse system replace the whole wooden track with a steel beam. In the case of the later the trains use polyurethane wheels.
Future Projects
editRocky Mountain Coasters has indicated that they will open two new rides in 2013. One will be a totally new roller coaster, using topper track. There has been some initial rumors that this ride is heading for Silverwood themepark in Idaho. The second project will be a track replacement project, similar in nature to the Texas Giant.
In addition they have several small projects replacing sections of coaster track with the topper track system.
People involved
editOne of the main people behind Rocky Mountain Coasters is Alan Schilke, known as the primary design behind the first foruth dimension roller coaster X at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
