Alix Malka (born November 8, 1962) is a French photographer based in Los Angeles.

Life and Career

He graduated with a fine art degree in Aix en Provence and completed Fashion Design at Esmod, Paris[1].

He worked for many years as art director beside iconic designer Thierry Mugler creating all aspects of a haute-couture house[2]. He played an integral part of the House of Mugler, collaborating with numerous photographers including masters such as Helmut Newton and Richard Avedon.

In 2002 he moved to New York and started his fashion photography career, quickly becoming involved with countless prestigious fashion magazines including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar, GQ, Rolling Stone, Numero, The Face, i.D., and Flair.

Alix has shot a number of high-profile fashion campaigns[3] such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Barneyʼs, Harry Winston, Bloomingdales, Nieman Marcus, Guess, Uniqlo, H&M, and Nike.

He is well known for his beauty images, his aesthetic and sense of detail[4] which has allowed him to work worldwide with clients such as Helena Rubenstein, Maybeline, LʼOreal and Pantene. He has also shot fragrance campaigns including Guess Seductive, Byblos and Areva.

Alix Malka has built a comprehensive list of celebrities over the years including Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Sophia Loren, Ashton Kutcher, Sharon Stone, Lindsay Lohan, Cindy Crawford, Amber Valetta, Milla Jovovich, Stephanie Seymour, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Laetitia Casta and Monica Bellucci.

His first exhibition was “In Fashion Photo / Art Basel 2009” followed by an exhibition in a SoHo gallery in New York in 2010. His debut as a director started with ABCʼs Vogue USA Haute-Couture. This was a collaboration with Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley featuring Tom Ford, Madonna, and Karl Lagerfeld. He has directed commercials for such clients as Guess, Thierry Mugler perfume and Areva perfumes.[5]
