Journalistic investigation of Norman Mailer's ninth biological child (chronologically 5th, I will recheck to make sure that I'm right - as I was born in 1963).

There is a woman named Sharyn Elander who claims to be Norman Mailer's daughter. A radio program was done on WBAI.org which explained why sometimes 8, 9 and 10 children are mentioned when mentioning Norman Mailer's children.

8 biological children were raised at one time or another with Norman Mailer 1 biological child never met Norman Mailer - but she did talk to him once on the phone (Sharyn Elander) 1 child was raised with Norman Mailer, Matthew Church, but was never formally adopted.

This radio program was an interview of John "Buffalo" Mailer and Norris Church Mailer on the Thanksgiving Sunday after Norman Mailer's death. (The link to this conversation has been removed/made non-accesible from the WBAI.org radio page.)

The first journalistic mention is Norman Mailer speaking himself - where he is telling someone that his mother died of alzheimers. He discusses that the information would normally be kept private and not normally spoken about publically, however, due to the circumstances - he is discussing it publically. [1]

Norman continues to say that some women are "celebrity _ _ _ _ _ _ _". He also explains that while both people were artists they really had nothing in common. He also explains that a person who has been with a celebrity can usually get more for their paintings.

Sharyn Elander claims to be the woman that Norman Mailer was speaking to in the above referenced link. Her mother was a painter. Her mother gave Sharyn a painting of "a castle", which she explained to her was "in the forest" for a 1981 High School graduation present. The painting was first exhibited on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Plano, TX.

Sharyn Elander also claims to have spoken to Norman Mailer only once in her lifetime - on the phone - when Norman Mailer told her that he was her father, when she was a child. She has had contact with the Norman Mailer family since Norman Mailer's death.

I've also found a link on line - which states that Norman Mailer fathered nine children. I am going to show it to my attorney - before/possibly instead of putting it on here - as links (like the WBAI.org) link - tend to disappear.

Regarding this being research: this page is a work in progress ~ I appreciate the person who mentioned that Wikipedia is not for research bothering to make a comment. However, if Wikipedia is not for research than perhaps it shouldn't be considered an encyclopedia - as when I do research - I sometimes use an Encylopedia to look things up. Preferably, I would speak to the person themselves...I am Sharyn Elander and I realize that some people on here consider themselves experts (but foregoing an opportunity to speak to the actual person - and just looking for links on the computer - is in this case, the unreasonable thing to do.) The reliable source is the actual person, DNA and all.

Sharyn Elander, (aka Norman'sdaughter)
