Alas, this happens too often.

I'm no fan of something I read a while ago on another user page: only edit articles not being in ones own area of expertise, because this would contribute to neutrality; my opinion and my experience is that this contributes to wrong interpretations (e.g. wrong translations from other languages when citing) or even to citogenesis... and it's difficult to find references to real self-evident basics of an area of expertise, and thus difficult to correct them on Wikipedia.
