Fear No Art Chicago is an interview-based television program hosted by Elysabeth Alfano that premiered on May 7, 2010 on WTTW 11. The show features interviews conducted by Alfano with individuals working in creative fields in Chicago. The premise of the show is to go behind-the-scenes into the artists’ studios to “discover the artists behind the art.”[1]

Origins

edit

The program was conceived of and developed by Chicago native Elysabeth Alfano. Alfano previously owned a gallery and a fashion accessories business before launching Fear No Art Chicago. Fear No Art Chicago was a venture that took over three years to develop.[2] Alfano teamed up with HMS Media, a Chicago-based production company that co-produced the pilot episode. Alfano took the pilot to several networks before reaching an agreement with WTTW, a public broadcasting company that would allow for wide distribution of the show.

In Alfano's words, the goal of Fear No Art Chicago is "to bridge the gap between the public and the arts by going behind the scenes on TV."[3]

Episodes

edit

The first episode of Fear No Art Chicago aired on May 7, 2010, with additional airings on May 12 and May 23. The episode featured interviews with blues musician Nicholas Barron, fashion designer Lauren Lein, and chefs Ben Roche and Homaro Cantu from Moto (resturant).[4]

The show was picked up as a quarterly series on WTTW, with new episodes scheduled to air in October 2010.[5]
