I am a graduate librarian, sociologist, and visual scientist.

Since 2008 I have been in charge of the ETH-Bibliothek's Image Archive in Zurich. Since 2009 the image archive has been very successful in crowdsourcing (see also our blog Crowdsourcing) and since 2015 we are so-called Open Data, i. e. we have been continuously uploading images to Wikimedia Commons since then.

Most of my Wikipedia contributions have been made in connection with my work as an image archivist, which is why I didn't choose a pseudonym as my user name.

My first contribution was created on July 12, 2007, after the completion of the digitalization of the Swiss construction newspaper Baugedächtnis Schweiz Online, which was also the starting point for E-Periodica. After that there was a ten year radio silence.

  • On June 9, 2017 on the occasion of the Swiss Archives Day we started with a few volunteers to integrate the aerial photographs of Walter Mittelholzer into the pages of Swiss communities.
  • On November 27, 2019, ETH-Bib staff members continued working on it during an internal day of action and processed more than 800 communities under the aegis of user:hadi.
  • During the Corona lockdown we continue with the insertion of aerial images into Swiss local articles. About a dozen people have been working. We have also extended the work to Wikipedia in several languages.

All activities and uploads are listed on User:ETH-Bibliothek

My goal is to contribute to the illustration of appropriate Wikipedia articles. I will certainly do some action with our volunteers again. I am always open for further ideas.
