I am a scholar, an artist, and a good friend. I take pride in the things I make with my hands and the people I love. I own an old home, work in a university library in New York City, and am ABD at another university in the city. My specialties are the history of clothing and textiles, particularly from the seventeenth century backwards. I also have a passion for domestic architecture and the history of interior design.

I own a big old house. I teach all kinds of people all kinds of things about clothing, textiles, interiors, and theories of design. I write well. I make a good cookie and a damn fine dress.
