Panacea is a Melodic Death metal from Aarhus, Denmark; the band also features musical influences from Thrash Metal, and is known to utilize Breakdowns. Panacea currently consists of vocalist Simon P. V. Ottzen, guitarrists Thomas Tranum and Jonas T. Sørensen, bassist Andreas B. Knudsen and drummer Jeppe Bo Kibsgaard.

Biography edit

The band formed in the earliest days of 2011 and featured William Høgh behind the drums. The band wrote and recorded their debut EP after playing together for just over 5 months. The EP 'The Dark Descent' was released independently in october 2011. Drummer William Høgh parted ways with the band in July 2011, due to previously decided plans of attending Efterskole. Jeppe Bo Kibsgaard joined the band as the new drummer in autumn 2011. Between Williams Høgh's departure and Jeppe Bo Kibsgaard joining, Dado Raos filled the role of drummer. Panacea quickly made a name for themselves, and has played alongside some of the big and established bands in Denmark such as Dawn Of Demise, Mordax and Aphyxion.

In early 2012 they competed in Wacken Open Air Metal Battle and came in second in their region, however did not go on to play on the Wacken Open Air festival. They are also participating in the Emergenza Music Festival Competition, in wich they have made it to the Danish Western-region Finale.

Panacea has been confirmed to play at SickFest, a Danish Death Metal festival.

The Dark Descent edit

The Dark Descent, was released independently in October 2011, and featured the bands five first songs. The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered at JBO Sound (Crocell,Corpus Mortale, Panzerchrist) by Jacob Olsen.

The EP has received much praise, including Lasse Skov from ESSENCE, who has stated the following: “It’s a really good EP that pretty much surpasses all of the other EPs that I’ve heard over the last few years.”
