nathwylc, sometimes spelled nathwilc, is an Old English word meaning "I know not which."[1] The word nathwylc appears multiple times in the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf. The poem mentions that Beowulf, the eponymous hero, has armor forged by Weyland. It is thought that this is a reference to "Weyland the Smith," a character from Germanic lore, who is pictured below on the Franks Casket.
