Chu Fook Hing (January 17, 1897) is best known as the creator of The Green Turtle, widely known as the first Asian American Superhero,[1] who appeared in Blazing Comics in 1944. The Shadow Hero, a 2014 book by Gene Yang and Sonny Liew exploring the origins of the Asian American superhero, generated renewed cultural interest in Hing and his characters.
Biography
editChu Fook Hing was born in Hawaii on the island of Kauai to Chu Kin and Chong Shee, who immigrated to the United States from China.[2]
