FASING S.A. (or Mining Tools and Equipment Factories FASING S.A.) - a Polish multinational metal industry corporation founded in 1913 with headquarters in Katowice, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It is the largest producer of industrial chains in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the largest chain manufacturers in the world.[2] The firm’s products are used, among others, in mining, energy, fishing, and the transport and transshipment sector.

Business profile edit

The company specializes in the production of link chains for:[3]

  • Mining - round and flat mining link chains, shearer chains, suspension and transport chains, hoist chains, chain routes, clamps and scrapers;
  • Fishing sector - trawling chains and others;
  • Power industry - chains with increased resistance to abrasion, catches and chain routes;
  • Construction and transport - sling chains, for hoists and hooks.

In addition, the company's research laboratories carry out service activities in the field of steel chemical composition analysis, hardness measurements, micro- and macrostructural tests and control of chosen measuring instruments.

Portfolio diversification edit

As part of the Group, FASING manufactures complete chain routes and steel structures used, among others in mining and heavy industry. The Group's offer is supplemented with steel forgings and small mechanization equipment, primarily drills, clutches and pumps made by MOJ S.A. and Osowiec Foundry.[4]

To respond to market demand, in 2017 Fasing Usługi Księgowe i Consultingowe Sp. z o.o. was created, an institution specializing in tax law and accounting services.[5]

  • 1913 - Establishment of the company under the name Schesische Gruben und Huttenbedartsgesselschaft M.B.H. (Śląska Górniczo-Hutnicza Spółka Akcyjna)
  • 1933 - Creation of the firm Machine Factory and Foundry MOJ
  • 1969 - Merger and establishment of the MOJ-RAPID Mining Equipment and Tools Factory.
  • 2000 - The majority stake of the Fasing Capital Group is taken over by Karbon 2; the company enters the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
  • 2006 - Foreign expansion through establishing a joint venture Shandong Liangda Fasing Round Link Chains Co. Ltd.
  • 2008 - Acquisition of shares in the German company K. B. P. Kettenwerk Becker-Prunte GmbH.
  • 2011 - Establishment of Fasing Ukraina Sp. z o.o.
  • 2014 - Expanding to Russia through the company OOO Zavody Gornovo Oborudowanija and Instrumenta Fasing.

Sustainable development edit

The company makes efforts to ensure that the impact of its products and services on the environment is minimized as much as possible. To this end, Fasing re-submits production waste to reuse and recycling, as well as continually improving its manufacturing process. Quality and environmental management is certified according to ISO 14001.[9]

The company implements the adopted Environmental Policy, whose main objectives are:[10]

  • Continuous raising of environmental awareness of management and employees by organizing training in this field;
  • Continuous improvement of the effectiveness of activities related to controlling and preventing the occurrence of negative impact on the environment by efficiently identifying significant environmental threats, their elimination or mitigation.
  • Minimization of technological waste and conducting environmentally safe waste management through optimization of production processes, as well as segregation, storage and transfer of waste for processing or utilization in accordance with the applicable legal regulations.

In addition, the group supports pro-environmental and pro-social initiatives in its immediate environment, in which it operates in accordance with the idea: "think globally, act locally."[11]
