Madman the Greatest (definition: A King is his own world) is a UK Recording artist / Music producer from Birmingham who has gained notoriety for his underground remixes of classic records including Michael Jackson and Diana Ross which has polarised his reputation[1]. He is the founder of Playaz Cliq Recordings which is the label responsible for his original releases[2]. Under his GR8-1 Music Lab production camp, he’s also responsible for the mastering and engineering of all labels recordings.

History

edit

The artist began his release with a compilation album called The Birth which has been quoted to go gold in Japan during 1998[3]. Due to nature of his naivety, this has never been charted or documented by royalties societies. An article by Street Cred Magazine in 1999 took the liberty of making this public knowledge which propelled his reputation as an artist. Since then, many of Madman the Greatest’s written appearances came from UK Magazine, Hip hop connection[4] written by Mike Lewis. One of the main quotes which certified his reputation was he wrote “...If the UK has an equivelant to Flipmode, Madman would be Busta Rhymes. If MOP had a UK franchise, Madman would operate it. Get the picture?...”[5]

The producer has been quoted for his energetic sound of “....Orchestral Stabs, rough beats and laser effect back in-yer –face lyrics”. He often works as main composer for artists including fellow rhyming partners, Mr FX and Ruff MP, his character voices, DJ Zimm Zimmah and Alta Egoz X and under his EDM pseudonym, M Giggy. One of his quoted works is with Stars in your eyes finalist Cecil Foster. Cecil appeared as Luther Vandross on the ITV show. Soon after Madman the Greatest and he began recording producing the first single, Fe Fi Fo[6] and a 12 track album called About time.

Madman the Greatest’s reputation has expanded onto the internet file sharing sites where a numerous of his remixes (or Dubplates) has flourished throughout. Most notably is his remix of Michael Jackson’s ‘The way you make me feel’ which polarized opinions with viewers describing it as the ‘..one of the best remixes to hit the industry in ten years’[7] making him one of Birmingham’s highly rated artist.

R U Crazy also appeared in the UK soap series, Eastenders on the 18th October 2013 [8] which appears on a free mixtape called The UK Invasion.
