Calming Disturbance new article content …

Calming Disturbance is a(n) American reggae rock electric band primarily composed of musician-producer-vocalist Arek Ulrich Anderson IV and musicians Bradley David Sandstone and Johnny Disconnect. Brad Sandstone had previously been involved with 'The Slow Trains' as well as 'Mixes of Muses' which was Johnny Disconnect's start up band. The music, the band records, is rather hard to classify as a specific genre due to the wide variety of instrumentations and styles the band touches upon. Arek Ulrich Anderson IV also known as 'Arek Ulrich' describes his sound as, "...'reggae fusion' streaming towards rock, folk, and hip hop cultures substantially based in rhythmic and experimental influence." He credits a large portion of his influences coming from Winston Foster, widely known as King Yellowman, a(n) albino Jamaican (rub-a-dub) deejay, who got his upstart 'toasting' in the early 1980's. A large collection of the band's musical catalog has been recorded at Parker Boulevard Studios in Vallejo, California, as well as stints of recording sessions in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts-Sound, of Emeryville, California.

History

edit

The group was formed due to irregularities all three of the members experienced revolving around creative control in previous groups they had been associated with. The name 'Calming Disturbance' was first conceived by Arek Ulrich. While unwilling to compromise his artistic visions, he created an umbrella like association in which he could draw outside musicians and vocalists into, to play at his, as well as their own, discretion. When Brad Sandstone and John 'Disconnect' first met Arek they were both in a five piece band Johnny had named "Mixes of Muses" also known as "Mix of Muses" of which, at times, they still record under. Arek Ulrich has been recording under the name 'Calming Disturbance' since early 2004. The bands' first major album titled, A Series of Favors for the Lovers and Haters is highly anticipated to be released in late fall of 2011.
