OMAALALA VILLAGE

Introduction

Omaalala is a village situated at the northern part of Namibia in Oshana region, it simply borders the Kingdom of Ondonga, and it is under the leadership of the headman Mr. Boye Mvula, well known as Kakololo. Omaalala is between Ondangwa and Oshakati, roughly 7 km away from Ondangwa. It is surrounded by numerous villages, namely Indangungu, Okaku and Ohalushu, with the nearest town Ongwediva which has a high school and more improved infrastructures.[1]

As most other village’s country wide, Omaalala also suffered the consequences of flood because it is in a flood prone area. During the colonial era this village was also affected, the inhabitants’ houses were destroyed and their cultivating land was left dilapidated, although the village managed to reframe a moment after the war. [2]

Market & Hobbies

Economically, Omaalala is not that well-off to have large markets of its own, it thus has minimarkets and shebeen where villagers buy their basic needs and as well go for refreshment. This village is a place to be by the time of public holidays for its well known astonishing and enjoyable atmosphere, it also has a bright reputation for its well known football aspiration. [3]

Development

After the Namibian independence, vivid improvements could be read from Omaalala. These in a form of the introduction of electricity, land lines (telephones), mobile Telecommunications network access and water. Omaalala as a village also have a combined school which accommodates pupils from pre-primary to grade 10. There is also a Roman Catholic Church in Omaalala which has no religious discrimination. [4]

Despite all that all that have happened and have improved in the area, there still more expectations which includes the construction of a gravel road which is already underway. In addition the Omaalala citizens are about to witness the commencing of the building of their clinic. [5]

Natural Resources

Omaalala is rich when it comes to natural resources. This village has different plant, such those bear fruit, non flowering, flowering, non bear fruit plants and different wild fruits. And this place is ever green. There are different types of animal, wild and domestic animals. And many villages don’t have the natural resources. [6]

Beard Fruits

Individually Omaalala also produced leading figures of the republic of Namibia, namely, the Omuthiya Town Council Meyer Hon. Heskiel Iyambo Nanyeni, the North Bank of Namibia manager Mr. Mvula Nyango, the Onandjokwe doctor Dr Apollos Munyika, Businessman Mr. Andreas Armas and Dr. Veikko Munyika, our country representative at Europe (Geneva).[7]

Omaalala village is a place to be, income and outcome. This village is the well known village in this country because of its aspects. Almost everything is in this village and we are thanking god because he didn’t enrich, nor make our village poor.
