The Boca West Community Charitable Foundation identifies and funds projects to assist children and their families at risk in the Boca Raton and South Palm Beach County areas. Formed in 2010 as a way for the members of the Boca West County Club to give back to the Boca Raton community, the foundation funds 25 different programs as of March 2018 including a program with Boca Raton Regional Hospital where every infant leaves with a crib and diapers. Other beneficiaries include The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, the Boca Raton Police Athletic League and Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education (SCOPE). Howard Boilen, the foundations's Vice Chairman, is one of it's 200 volunteers. Working together they were able to give $1.4 million in assistance to the community for FY 2017/2018 in addition to the more than 1,000 youths who participate in their summer programs. [1] Howard's first task at the foundation was as the Judge for Boca West's Annual Sand Castle Fundraiser in 2013. He proclaimed each participant "A Boca Winner."

HERITAGE OF PRIDE: Edits added and what was left after Diannaa deletions.... review content and resubmits... in encloclopedia form. Heritage of Pride, Inc. ('HOP dba NYC Pride) organizes the official New York City LGBTQIA+ Pride Week events. HOP is a non-profit organization that began producing New York City's Pride events in 1984, building on the work of the Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee who organized the first March in 1970. That March brought national attention to 1969's Stonewall Riots, one of many occuring in the USA at the time, and became part of the mechanism which triggered a Human Rights struggle yet to be resolved. + Heritage of Pride (HOP dba NYC Pride) organizes the official New York City LGBTQIA+ Pride Week events. − It is from the initial call to action for June 28, 1970's March that Pride Chapters formed in cities across the USA. Pride London was the first foreign city to rise in support of Gay Rights in 1972 and Pride festivals (or Christopher Street Days) now occur on six continents. The official LGBTQIA+ Pride events for New York City end on the last Sunday of each June. These are done to inspire, educate, commemorate and celebrate the community. Additional events in New York City are organized by Brooklyn & Queens Pride Chapters. Antarctica has yet to officially organize a Pride Chapter but in 2016 it was declared the world's first LGBT friendly continent.[2] + After the 1970 event, Pride chapters formed in cities across the US. − For many people, Pride events are their first introduction to the larger gender and sexual minority community and offer a link to a long-established Heritage of Pride that reaches back further than the Greek Empire. None of these events would be possible today without contributions from people like Leonardo da Vinci and Harvey Milk as well as the thousands of volunteers who work year-round to see that this heritage continues to welcome all. In many ways the lives of Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickcock are demonstrative of how far this movement has progressed. HOP is not the only resource for such knowledge[4], they, and other Pride chapters, offer the opportunity for a multitude of unique voices to come together and be known.

HOP is a volunteer spearheaded organization working by Robert's Rules 50 weeks a year to execute the activities of NYC Pride Week. The voting membership elects two Co-Chairs onto an Executive Board with Committee Directors. Until 2002 all NYC Pride Week activities were organized by volunteers. That January Anthony D. Dean began work as the first full-time paid Business Development Director of NYC Pride events. By late 2016 HOP had five employees working year-round from a rented basement office on Christopher Street. They assist in coordinating the desires of Membership- who work on behalf of the larger community. Membership is open to all individuals.

− HOP is a volunteer spearheaded organization working by Robert's Rules 50 weeks a year to execute the activities of NYC Pride Week. The voting Membership elects two Co-Chairs onto an Executive Board with Committee Directors tasked to further a heritage of community building which started long before Stonewall. Until 2002 all NYC Pride Week activities were organized by volunteers. That January Anthony D. Dean began work as the first full time paid Business Development Director of NYC Pride events. His tenure of seven years launched efforts in a new era for Pride- one where security had to be considered from a very different standpoint than the hinderance of protesters like members of society's self-appointed morality police. While the Stonewall Riots began at a time when the Mafia was protecting the Gay community from the Police, after 9-11 the State had a pressing obligation to ensure the safety of all its residents. Safety naturally comes with a price, and HOP was able to keep pace with rising costs as the organization grew to six figures for the first time. Heritage of Pride exists in part as the fundraising entity with mission to ensure these cultural events take place. In the Spring of 2016 another demonstration of what this organization has to be prepared for set alarms off nationwide. By the Fall of 2016 HOP had a total of 5 employees working year-round from their rented basement office on Christopher Street. They assist in coordinating the desires of Membership- who work on behalf of the larger community. Membership is open to all individuals who seek to further this instrumental process affecting significant cultural change.

What began as a March has grown to more than a dozen events which comprise NYC PRIDE week including The March, The Rally, PrideFest, and Pride Island- a multi-day cultural experience (evolution from Dance on the Pier: 1987-2017). Pride Island is the final event held each year and culminates with the second largest annual fireworks display in Manhattan, bested only by Macy's 4th of July Fireworks. During Pride Month many facets of the community gather and join voices. In 2017, ABC7 broadcast three hours of HOP's Pride March for the first time, also making some content available on the Internet. The run time of the March was 9 hours, 38 minutes. The broadcast was nominated for a 2018 New York Emmy Award.[5]

In July 2009 HOP began planning for the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Additional programming was envisioned for the coming years and by 2011 had become a reality. In 2014 World Bank began discussing the economic cost of exclusion.[7] UNHRC's Free & Equal has put that figure at 5% of GDP.[8]

− In July of 2009 HOP began planning for the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Additional programming was envisioned for the coming years started and by 2011 had become a reality. The fact that this struggle had not been resolved by the time of 1994's Stonewall 25 events is clear. The advances made for some of this community are well documented. But with each victory this community answers with more questions about the rights and opportunities still denied Citizens. HOP is truly only a conduit allowing the gender and sexual minority community of one city to rise so as to be understood, in a call for recognition of basic human rights. In 2014 World Bank began discussing the economic cost of exclusion[9]. UNHRC's Free & Equal has put that figure at 5% of GDP.[10]

In 1997 HOP hosted the 16th annual conference of InterPride where the membership voted to establish WorldPride.

− What began in 2009 as long term planning actually was conceived in 1997, also in New York, at the 16th annual conference of InterPride. It was their Membership who voted to establish WorldPride. In 2019 Heritage of Pride's Membership, Staff and Volunteers, even the City and the State, will be welcoming their usual guests- plus a few more of their peers from all points arriving to mark the day as they visit the last place NY's Police Department has used tear gas on it's citizens: Stonewall 50

In 2017, the LGBT Pride March brought together more than 450 contingents including 110 floats. The route traverses Fifth Avenue and includes streets in Greenwich Village. The March passes by the site of the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street, location of the Stonewall riots which launched the modern gay rights movement. − − Education has not yet to make the significant impact to end this struggle. How much more do others need to know about the members of Earth's Gender and Sexual/Sexuality Minority class before they are treated as the intrinsic individuals they simply are. What has been achieved thus far has come about thanks to the willingness of each participant who stood up publically so as to be counted- at Pride events in cities around the globe, in courts rooms and dining rooms. They have been an effective force helping shape the current generation and if successful, will realize a full equality that will see the bloom of many healthy generations. It is the LGBT Pride March, Lesbian and Gay Pride March, The Gay Pride March, The Christopher Street Liberation Day March that continues to play a central role as the civil rights demonstration produced by HOP.

− − In 2017, it brought together more than 450 contingents including 110 floats. The City might require HOP obtain a parade permit and thus many outside the community refer to it as a parade, but until the there is 'full cultural, social and legal equality for all' (InterPride's Mission Statement), it shall remain a march to those involved. The route traverses Fifth Avenue and includes streets in Greenwich Village. The march passes by the site of the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street, location of the Stonewall riots which launched the modern gay rights movement. It was not an uncivilized riot, no one was critically injured, it was just a small group of people who had been pushed around for too long who decided to not accept that behavior any longer.

− − But what has the emotional cost been to so far? Records exist for the atrocities [11]that occurred in the 1950's era to name just a few years. What was the economic cost of that behavior? This is a question those planning for Stonewall 50 have.

Heritage of Pride is a founding member of InterPride and a member of Northeast Regional Pride, the International Lesbian and Gay Association, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association.

flagging

edit

The flaggers and fan dancers almost disappeared as AIDS took it's toll on the community, but by 1988 a few masters of these arts ensured they passed their tradition onto new members of the community. Adam Wojtowicz (flags) and Jeffrey Reichlin (fans) were two such performance artists in the New York area first seen at The Saint at Large. Three performed for Heritage of Pride in 1990, four in 1991. In 1996 thirty fan dancers and flaggers from the Northeast where ready to take rotations on stage at the annual Pride Dance on the Pier. San Francisco, where this art form began, was still recovering from its loses. Those who had not died, placed their toys away out of signigicant grief. AmFAR held a benefit in September 1997 at the Trocadero bringing back to that soil the fruit of these new vines.Mrphilip (talk) 03:18, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Flagging has even been used by elementary school teachers as a new way to engage youth.
In 2018, DJ Brian Norwood, a part of this community for decades, opens the season with music for the enjoyment of a few hundred flow arts individuals and the beneficiary is the Organization for Refugee, Asylum & Migration.

Including text from a Congressional Act ==

  • What is the best way to include some of the actual text of an government act in your article. Not an article about the Act itself- we have one already as flawed as it is, but a few words of significance that you want to ensure wiki users see in the form it was written to clarify a situation succinctly?
  • Should one use the National Register or do we have a better source.
  • Also how do you include such public domain words as our laws are without setting of a cut and paste alarm?
