I started with eliminating typos and other small errors while just using Wikipedia as a resource. But more and more I get involved in real editing.

Presently trying to improve the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance and the sustainable sanitation pages and having a look into the template Sustainability.

To whom it may concern - Visual Dictionary as Translation tool

edit

Wikipedia would be an ideal platform for the creation of a visual dictionary that allows the translation of especially technical expressions in all languages used by wikipedians.

Imagine a picture of an item where all parts are labelled in one language you have chosen and each time you hover over one of the words with your mouse the corresponding term in a second language of your choice appears. That would tremendously help in technical translations. It be much more straightforward than any standard dictionary, as with the drawing every user can immediately know that the term in the foreign language really describes the part (s)he is looking for and not something entirely different. Now after finding a word I often have to check with google images whether that word really means what I am looking for.

The drawings can be made or contributed by interested companies or other entities, who would profit from the service, too. The labelling can be done by mother tongue wikipedians, guaranteeing that the terms are correct.

There is an example by Webster, which shows the principle of a visual dictionary but is not meant for translations.

I am looking forward for somebody able to implement this to do it. I'll be very willing then to contribute with labelling and possibly descriptions in the languages and knowledge fields I master.
