This is a list of English football teams by traditional county. All teams currently reside in the top seven tiers of the English Football League System.

Six traditional English counties have no current Football League teams: Cornwall, Northumberland, Oxfordshire, Rutland, Westmorland, Worcestershire. Of these, Cornwall, Dorset, Rutland and Westmorland have never been home to a Football League team, although the modern ceremonial county of Dorset is home to A.F.C. Bournemouth. Northumberland does have a team within the Scottish League system, Berwick Rangers.
