A place to study: This small island is rebuilding itself after a volcano and a hurricane hit.

Over its long history, it has been mostly claimed by English (Great Britain), though sometimes captured by France in early history. has a rich history of agriculture & trading sugar & cotton & limes since 1700s. Early plantations set up in 1630s still operate today. Botantical trusts, snorkeling, fishin. Culturally part of British Empire "United Kingdom" in education style. In first decade of 2000s: we see new groups (Indian, Sri Lankan,) arrive in 21st century.

Diaspora: Many native Montserratians are "alumni" of the island, who left to reside in London, or in USA, Boston, MA and NYC etc.
