Personal : Monisha Jaising was born in Mumbai on 24th May. She is married to Ravi Jaising and has two sons, Yudhishthir Jaising and Karan Jaising. She launched her eponymous brand in the 1980s by showcasing her designs in an exhibition in a Breach candy art gallery .

She is among the pioneers of the Indian Fashion Industry and has collaborated with all major players that have shaped the Fashion industry. Monisha Jaising started her design career in 1989 after graduating from the American College for Applied Arts and then The Royal College of Arts (London). In 1989, with a modest mix of dresses, tunics and tailored jackets, she founded her own atelier and instantly made a name for herself among fashion’s elite.
Expansion: Besides selling in cities/countries around the world such as Hong Kong, Kuwait, Switzerland and Denmark, the brand has over the years retailed through prestigious fashion houses like: Harrods and Self-ridges in London, Scoop in New York, Mumbai Se in Singapore and Dubai, Ensemble, Samsaara and Evoluzione in India. After retailing successfully from prominent boutiques and stores across other continents and home turf alike, the forerunner of Indian designer prêt hit the runways when the country's fashion weeks came into existence in the early 2000s.
Currently her multi-dimensional label comprises of luxury sportswear, resort wear, luxe evening wear, bridal couture and kids wear. Monisha Jaising is extremely passionate about art, music and modern architecture, but “India” has always been her strongest source of inspiration. She follows a color palette meant for the young, ambitious and sexy modern woman. Her command over hues is natural and easy, sophisticated and sensual. She creates collections that are alive, femininely seductive, with an interesting blend of Western and Eastern elements. Monisha has created a rage with her interpretation of the demure desi kurta by teaming it with trousers, shorts and jackets; styling it with a corporate edge or a sporty vibe.
Achievements: Known as the “Princess of Bohemian Luxe” and the “Re-Inventor of the Kurtii”, she has completed 27 glorious years in the fashion industry as well as marked her entry into the e-commerce arena. The ethos of the label lies in “Redefining Luxury” for women all over the globe.
