Central Illinois has many opportunities for recreational as well as functional cycling. The terrain in Central Illinois is mostly flat, leading to windy conditions, but also has some hills for both on and off-road riding.
Local cities have been committing more and more resources to bicycling infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of bicyclists on the roads. Also, bicycling advocacy groups are active in educating cyclists on rights and rules and lobbying for improved bicycling conditions.
