Matthew Williams is an American Director, Art Director, and Photographer.

Career

Williams originally became widely known for his collaborations with Lady Gaga, serving as Creative Director for the Haus of Gaga from 2008 till 2010. During his tenure, he was responsible for the creative direction on a number of notable projects, including the music videos for Just Dance, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, and Alejandro, Gaga's Monster Ball tour (including the design of her trademark "disco stick"), and photo collaborations with Polaroid for V Magazine, Hedi Slimane for Vogue Hommes Japan, and Terry Richardson for Supreme, among others.[1][2][3][4]

Williams has since embarked on a series of collaborations with Kanye West, serving as art director for the artist and his creative content company, DONDA.[5]

Williams is a member of fashion film director Nick Knight's creative collective SHOWstudio, for which he has contributed collaborations with A$AP Rocky, streetwear brand Hood By Air, and Walter Van Beirendonck (for the Nick Knight-directed retrospective "Dream the World Awake.")[6]

In 2012, Complex Magazine named Williams one of "the 25 Most Powerful People in Streetwear."[7]
