Micheal Spencer- David Lau is an aspiring writer who is working on publishing his first book. He has written three novella's entitled, "Slavery", "Pink Polka Dot Underwear", and "Howard". "Howard" is his only self-published book, but is under going a second due to the amount of grammatical errors in its initial draft.

Early Life

edit

Micheal was born in Santa Clara, California on May 2nd, 1990 to his mother Kimberly, a secretary for many jobs, and his father Michael, a supervisor over various fast food restaurants. He has a sister named Ashley who is now going to college working towards becoming a doctor. While attending Bagby Elementary School Micheal discovered an interest in writing after writing a poem entitled "Fear" that used multiple analogies for fear. Shortly after his interest in writing became dormant until the age of sixteen while attending Casa Grande High School.

2006- May 2008

edit

Micheal again picked up writing while finding himself bored with class. During this time he wrote his first novella in a notebook that has been lost since. The story was entitled "The Truth about Humanity" and portrayed his own opinion on the world including parts of his own life into it. After being ititially read by a couple of close friends it was lost amongst thier hands. Shortly after finished with "The Truth about Humanity" he began to draw out a plan for "Howard". Although the initial premise differed from how the story turned out, it still sparked the story written. However, after only writing a couple chapters he again ceased writing looking towards preparing himself for the Marine Corps.

May 2008- November 2008

edit

In May 2008 Micheal had gone to Marine Corps bootcamp to begin what he thought would be a twenty year career. However a day after he attended MCT Micheal had a siezure and was sent to a rehabilitation platoon where he waited to be sent home as he was diagnosed epileptic. During that time he worked with the legal department in between his doctor appointments. After a month in MCT rehabilitation platoon Micheal once again began writing. Over the next two months he attempted to finish "Howard", but found it difficult to find the right place to end it. He again stopped writing after he was sent home from the Marine Corps.

November 2008- August 2009

edit

After being sent home from the Marine Corps Micheal had to find a new direction to head towards. Ultimately he decided that he wanted to become a teacher and began attending Central Arizona College where he is still working on his AA degree in Education. While going to school he was able to find a job working at a local fast food restaurant as a dishwasher until he was hired by the Pinal County Sheriffs Office. In his first week he experience his first seizure since the Marine Corps. He was initially placed on the night shift and due to the lack of things to due once again picked up writing. Instead of continuing on "Howard" he began to write a novella that would later be entitled "One Week". A few months later the story would be retitled to "Pink Polka Dot Underwear".

August 2009- Present

edit

In Janurary 2010 Micheal was changed from night shift at Pinal County Adult Detention Center to swing shift. It's here that he met Ms. Susan Warner who was a former librian and promoted Micheal to keep writing after reading the first half of "One Week". In March 2010 he finished the story and two weeks later Micheal asked Susan what she remembered most from the story and she stated "pink polka dot underwear". It was at this point that the name had changed from "One Week" to "Pink Polka Dot Underwear". He stopped writing until the summer months of 2010 at which point he finally finished "Howard". Susan continued to promote him to continue writing while she attempted to help him by partially editing the stories he had her read. He attempted to write out more stories, but stopped after a few chapters not knowing where the stories were heading. The pattern continued until May 2011 when the idea of "Slavery" was typed up onto his computer. It took two months to finish "Slavery" and has been declared his best writing so far. He has attempted to publish all three of these through notable publishing companies, but his financial status has handicapped him from doing so.
