The Artistic Method edit

The Artistic Method was developed by Victoria Graham in collaboration with Zero1, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring creativity at the intersection of art, technology and digital culture. Like the scientific method, the Artistic Method is a process by which we endeavor to investigate and understand our world. But where the scientific method seeks to minimize the influences of culture and bias, the Artistic Method embraces it. Specifically, the Artistic Method is a body of techniques for discovering problems and conducting creative-led experiments to solve them. It celebrates asking big and bold questions, investigating and sharing the rawest of ideas, and capturing and testing creative sparks as part of an empirical experience. This artistic approach to problem solving helps individuals and companies to bring their biggest and most disruptive innovations to market.

The Artistic Method has five steps:

  1. Recognition and observation of a problem
  2. Complex questioning (or we could call this Artistic inquiry)
  3. Innovation hypothesis
  4. Creative collaboration and experimentation
  5. Testing and analysis

The Artistic Method is the process by which ArtThink is carried out.
