Jacques de Vitry (ca. 11701240) was a popular French preacher of the Crusades. Like Bernard of Clairvaux, Jacques de Vitry was effective at using preaching as a means to rally together adherents of Christendom to crusade.[1] In 1216 Jacques was consecrated as bishop of Acre in modern day Israel.[2]
