Move edit

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen.

  • Template:Pp-move-indef protect from move
  • Move wont happen if moving to existing redirect page - so https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_move
    • add at bottom of Talk page: {{subst:requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}} and wait for bot to add box
    • notify interested parties - {{reply to|Peter coxhead}}, to generate@username
    • to close out, follow instructions in box

Construction

         This page is under construction.
Anything blatantly wrong or somewhat odd-looking is probably going to be corrected with a future update soon. In the meantime, please feel free to edit this list yourself. As there is an offline working copy, your changes, if valid, will be incorporated into the next update. Comments and suggestions are most welcome on the Talk page.

All edits/updates are checked for accuracy with the source-lists, which include more recent material (up to 2018) than the References listed at the bottom of this page, and include many new and previously-lost pieces discovered, S.# renumberings, a thorough revision of all composition dates, more subcategories outlined [now done], and numerous typos and mistakes corrected from the previous 2010 IMSLP version adapted from the 2004 Short/Howard catalogue.

HELP NEEDED:
  • Red Links need to be corrected if a page exists on English or foreign Wikipedia.
  • New pages can be created for Red Links. Please don't delete red links.
  • Any links to disambiguation pages should be corrected to be more specific.
  • If a page exists for a particular piece, even on a foreign Wikipedia, and that title isn't linked here, please add a link.

Thank you!

Titles edit

  • Use italics for the titles of works (such as books, films, television series, named exhibitions, computer games, music albums, and paintings).
  • The titles of articles, chapters, songs, episodes, research papers and other short works (eg Essays) instead take double quotation marks ("Lying in Politics"). Italics are not used for major religious works (the Bible, the Quran, the Talmud). Many of these titles should also be in title case. (Capitalising Key Words, Pentagon Papers)

  • uses lower case alphabetic unless specified, eg {{efn-ua}} for upper case - see template page
Named for repetition

  • then; {{efn|name=fn1}} thereafter, eg {{efn| name=Junc}}
  • then in notelist: {{notelist|group=name}}
Embedding refs
  • {{efn|name=fn1|note {{sfn|Author|Date}}}} e.g. {{efn|name=Leopoldia|[[nom. rej.]] rejected [[homonym]] not [[Parl.]] 1845 {{sfn|Garbari|Greuter|1970}}}}

Sister project links edit

"Most box-type templates such as

shown at right should be put at the beginning of the last section of the article (which is usually, but not necessarily, the "External links" section) so that boxes will appear next to, rather than below, the list items.[1] Do not make a section whose sole content is box-type templates. Many box links can be unified to one by using {{Sister project links}} or {{Subject bar}}."

  • 1. Sister project links
  • 2. Subject bar

"Sometimes box-type templates are not aesthetically pleasing, either because there are no external links except sister project ones, or because they result in an odd layout, such as a long sequence of right-aligned boxes hanging off the bottom of the article or excessive white space when the section is laid out in columns. In such cases, consider using "inline" templates, such as   Media related to Michael Goodyear/Wikiguide at Wikimedia Commons, in the "External links" section, so that links to sister projects appear as list items, like this:

Media related to Wikimedia Foundation at Wikimedia Commons"

{{wikispecies|}}{{commons category|}} {{commons|}}{{wikispecies}}{{commons}} {{Commonscat|Calopteryx maculata}}
{{wikitionary}}
{{Wikisource}}

{{wikispecies}}{{commons}}{{Commons|Category:Lilioceris}}

inline wikisource=

  Works related to Michael Goodyear/Wikiguide at Wikisource

  • Boxing multiple links

{{sisterlinks}} - do not indent with * - will not box

    • position is right unless: position='left'

q=quote s=source eg s=Hannah Arendt wikt=wiktionary {{sister project links}} redirects to sisterlinks {{Sister project links |wikt=no |commons=Sorbus aucuparia |b=no |n=no |q=no |s=no |v=no |voy=no |species=Sorbus aucuparia |d=no}}

  • {{sisterlinks|commons=yes|species=yes|wikt=yes|n=no|q=no|v=no|s=no|b=no}}

- specify yes or no

Suggest Peer Review first Seek Mentor Wikipedia:Mentoring for FAC

    • Nomination procedure

Before nominating an article, ensure that it meets all of the FA criteria and that peer reviews are closed and archived. The featured article toolbox (at right) can help you check some of the criteria. Place {{subst:FAC}} at the top of the talk page of the nominated article and save the page. From the FAC template, click on the red "initiate the nomination" link or the blue "leave comments" link. You will see pre-loaded information; leave that text. If you are unsure how to complete a nomination, please post to the FAC talk page for assistance. Below the preloaded title, complete the nomination page, sign with Michael Goodyear (talk) 16:07, 7 February 2017 (UTC), and save the page. Copy this text: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/name of nominated article/archiveNumber (substituting Number), and edit this page (i.e., the page you are reading at the moment), pasting the template at the top of the list of candidates. Replace "name of ..." with the name of your nomination. This will transclude the nomination into this page. In the event that the title of the nomination page differs from this format, use the page's title instead.

  • {{dubious}} tag edit - appears as [dubious – discuss]
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism1}} This is a gentle caution regarding unconstructive edits; it encourages new editors to use a sandbox for test edits. This is the mildest warning.
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism2}} This warning is also fairly mild, though it explicitly uses the word 'vandalism' and links to the Wikipedia policy.
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism3}} This warning is sterner. It is the first to warn that further disruptive editing or vandalism may lead to a block. Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism4}} This is the sharpest vandalism warning template, and indicates that any further disruptive editing may lead to a block without warning.
