Welcome to Micasta's contributions blog. It is a record of my activities in Wikipedia. Micasta (talk) 12:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
This page will no longer be updated as it is getting too long and too tiresome (and I'm getting too lazy).
I was surprised to learn that there are articles in the English Wikipedia that are not written in English. One of these was Subli, which was written in Tagalog and apparently derived (verbatim?) from the term paper of some high school student. I have translated much of the text directly from the mother tongue into English. The article is now in English and will not be considered for deletion (I hope). However, it was so terribly written... Can someone give it a makeover, pretty please? I'm not willing to, because personally I'm not interested in the topic. I just hate to see a Filipino article go to waste. :( Micasta (talk) 11:24, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Work on Dühring's rule
editI clarified the definition of Dühring's rule, eliminating the term "vapor constant" which apparently does not have any relation to the article (probably some misunderstanding by the former author). I also uploaded an image to illustrate Dühring's rule. However, as it is a non-free image, I am still awaiting verdict regarding its use. I'm watching the page. Work on VY Canis Majoris
editThe Internet Encyclopedia of Science has more information about VY Canis Majoris than the Wikipedia article on the said star. Seems like a good starting point. Micasta (talk) 04:53, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
The Wikipedia article on VY Canis Majoris is currently at Start Class. Let's see how far we can take it. Micasta (talk) 05:43, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Article on VY Canis Majoris outbursts [1] Micasta (talk) 03:39, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I recently uploaded an image of VY Canis Majoris from HubbleSite:

The article on VY Canis Majoris is gaining more information. The starbox has been aptly filled with bits of information. However, since VY CMa is a far-away star with a tiny parallax, it is difficult to determine many of its characteristics -- especially its notable size -- that a number of respectable papers are having disputes regarding these values. I would try to do my own analysis when I get the time (and motivation) to sit down and do some thinking. Micasta (talk) 11:47, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
The article is no longer a stub! Thanks to Filelakeshoe for removing the stub tag. :) Micasta (talk) 00:38, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
My first major contribution! I added information about its central star, the hottest white dwarf known. The information was taken from Astronomy magazine. My contribution isn't stellar (pun not intended), and still needs structure. Nonetheless, I am freaking proud of it! I'll work on it when I no longer have my hands full (currently at work). Great improvement with this article! Citations have been written in the proper form, all values are properly accounted for and the grammar has been corrected. Micasta (talk) 03:31, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Currently at Stub Class. Micasta (talk) 08:12, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
On hiatus until values are resolved.
Spelling and grammar checker
editFor obvious reasons, I will not be listing every article in which I had made nothing but spelling and grammar corrections. Micasta (talk) 13:46, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism checker
editThe first vandalism that I have spotted was the "Uncle Fucker" page redirecting to Hayden Panettiere. Uncle Fucker now properly redirects to the South Park movie. Micasta (talk) 06:03, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
