About me
editI am finishing up my Museum Studies Master's degree at IUPUI with a focus in collections management and registration. My background is in anthropology and I enjoy working closely with cultural objects, especially Native American pieces. My career goal is to work in a a cultural institution in some type of collections or registration capacity by either managing collections, working in conservation or organizing artifact records.
Interests
editI have always been fascinated by ancient cultures, especially ancient Rome and Greece. One of my life goals is to travel to Greece and visit the Acropolis of Athens. I have always been interested in learning more about biological anthropology and I am always searching the news for new archaeology discoveries around the world.
Current Work
editFor the 2012 spring semester I will be working at the Indianapolis Museum of Art as the Lilly House Conservation Intern. My responsibilities will include various conservation projects including polishing silver, cleaning textiles, IPM, collection organinzation and possibly creating a Wikipedia article about museum techniques of silver polishing.
Research
editFor my MSTD-516 Collections Care and Management class I wroked to reserach and create a Wikipedia page for the Sculpture of Liberty, Statue of Oratory, and the bust of Robert D. Orr from the List of public art at the Indiana Statehouse. I also reflect about my experiences on my work with creating wiki articles here: User:Mgeurts/Wikithoughts
Update: I have finished working on two different wikipedia articles: Bust of Robert D. Orr and User:Tricia Gilson/Indiana State House Rotunda Sculptures. these links are not live yet, but they will be soon.
