HISTORICAL
editPresident Manuel L. Quezon is the second President of the Philippines. He served his country for 9 years (1935-1944). He was born on August 19, 1878 in Baler in the district of El Principe, Captain of General of the Philippines which is now called Baler, Aurora. He studied at the University of Sto. Tomas but then in 1899, he left his law studies on that particular University and decided to join in the independence movement. And then, he returned to the University and luckily passed the bar examinations in 1903 where in he achieved fourth place. In 1906, he became a councilor and was elected as governor of Tayabas.
CULTURAL
editPresident Quezon was well known for his good presidency. In his prime years, the constitution was great. During his speech, he mentioned the positive traits of Filipinos such as strong willed, earnest, adventurous, had the courage to be pioneers, Filipinos lead a life of toil and communal service, and each one considered himself as an active part of the body politic. These are the proof that Filipinos are responsible and have the courage to fight for his own country and it also reflects the culture of the Philippines. However, President Quezon also mentioned negative traits of Filipinos such as parasitism, takes religion lightly, lack of perseverance, easly admits defeat, and frivolous in his view of life. In this matter, it shows that Filipinos nowadays were losing their own discipline and the culture of Filipinos were disappearing slowly. And so that's the reason why President Quezon is worrying about, he is worried that these negative traits will grow.
POLITICAL
editManuel Quezon revealed the troubles of landless small farmers in the surroundings and made a decisions for this in order to resolve that problem and these are the approbation of a recommendation for government reorganization, the promotion of contract and development in Mindanao, the reorganization of the island's military defense, opposing illegal and corruption within the government, proposition for landforms and dealing with foreign stranglehold on Philippine trade and business. President Quezon, made a promise of "More Government and less politics" In this case, he even established Government Survey Board to examine the existing institutions and for them to make the needed recommendations. He is indeed a good leader because he showed a sincere desire to follow the constitutive authorization on the promotion of social justice. And in his speech, he even promised that he will expose us a great nation, wherein it will not be deluge, a nation that will become known victorious from the trials and conflicts of a distracted world, a nation that will live endlessly, sharing the common work of advancing the welfare and also promoting the happiness of mankind. Furthermore, President Quezon has an everlasting faith for us people. He knows that we all have the power that are necessary to become s powerful and enlightened nation.
