Tim Smith is an American guitarist, bassist, songwriter and producer, who has toured and or recorded with various artists including The Producers, Jellyfish, Sheryl Crow, World Party, The Finn Brothers, Sarah McLachlan and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.[1]

Biography edit

As a guitarist Smith was influenced by Dave Gregory and Andy Partridge of XTC, Pat Metheny and Johnny Marr of The Smiths and James Honeyman-Scott of The Pretenders.[2] While at a Performing Arts high school in Louisiana, Smith played guitar in some jazz bands and later joined another band as bass player.[2]

Smith was a big fan of The Producers when, at age 18 in 1984, he joined them as bass player. He appeared on their album Run for Your Life in 1985.[2]
