About me edit

I started out as a WikiGnome and ... am still a WikiGnome. I need to "fan out" my contributions into other areas, I feel. My addiction to ^love for Wikipedia encompasses many areas. I'm on here almost every day.

I have Asperger's syndrome (high-functioning autism), so I might seem eccentric to other people. This essay on users like me sums it up pretty nicely: "Wikipedia is the ultimate honey-trap". After teaching myself many of the sciences and several programming languages, I am quite pleased to be in an environment where I can contribute positively.

I also have the burden of chronic depression. It makes me reclusive and faithless every now and then, but it won't be my undoing. So please don't hesitate to tell me (politely, if possible) if I do something wrong or grossly unhelpful. It's fine. Really.

I've created a tool to format citations (since I'm so involved with them). It's pretty comprehensive, and formats citations with whitespace uniformly for a smoother look in the editing window. I'm pleased with it, but wish it could leave segments of text alone, and only run on part of the page. No idea how to do that yet...
