A reliable company? edit

The wiki article saying the notability of a company needs to be verified states "Simply stated, an organization is a group of more than one person formed together for a purpose. This includes commercial and non-commercial activities including, but not limited to, charitable organizations, educational institutions, institutions, interest groups, organizations, social clubs, companies, partnerships, proprietorships, religious denominations, sects, etc." The Geek Media is indeed a company, a subsidiary of an incorporated company called "Crystal Gates" based out of Cheboygan Michigan. and a social organization. It also holds partnerships with a religious organization and a production company that is an LLC.

That establishes notability

Sources? edit

Here is where it gets sticky. For the most part, the sources to this page would not be reliable by Wikipedia standards. However, they are reliable sources in the form of new media which is the form this company takes. Blogs, self-published articles and social news networks are very valid resources for new media. A new media oriented website would immediately go for coverage on those sites before they would look for coverage in the mass media.

  • Actually.."Self-published books, personal websites, and blogs are largely not acceptable as sources. They may, in some circumstances, be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications, but such use is discouraged." If that is the case, I can site a few sources that are self-published covering The Geek Media. The writers of those sources have both been known as experts in their field, one very well-known and one recognized by some mass media. Not to mention a few other notable forms of new media (i.e. podcasts) and some very well known animators have recognized The Geek Media on more then one occasion. • Myndflame.com - which is a well-known machinima production company
  • Brandon M Dennis - who is a well-known web animator
  • Steve Racer - owner and director of Fans for Christ Organization
  • James Kennison - host of well-known comedy podcast "Nobody's Listening"
  • Writer Angela Grey on her blog
  • Scott Johnson of Extra Life Radio on his blog (which is the website for Extra Life Radio)
  • Dane Golden of Inside Twit blog recognized a Geek Media writer
  • ConNooga which is an organization that runs a convention has The Geek Media listed and recognized in many places on their website.
  • All of the above are real companies, and/or well-known/reliable sources that have sited and recognized The Geek Media.

It falls under the guidelines people. Just because a company may not seem "well known" or conventional to you does not mean it's spam. This company deserves an article as a valid company for new media. Like any other company would listed here on Wikipedia.
