Campus Activities:
Georgia College & State University provides a wide range of activities for its students. The Department of Campus Life coordinates major events on campus, and also works in together with the Campus Activities Board to plan and implement programs and activities year round. The Campus Activities Board, CAB, offers fun and exciting activities for all students. Students are highly involved in the creation of all CAB events, which provides opportunities for them to lead, plan and implement a wide variety of events and activities. Campus activities provide a good opportunity for students to meet people, have diverse experiences, and better adjust to college life in a fun, substance-free environment.
Campus Traditions:
Georgia College & State University has many campus traditions. Some of those traditions include Homecoming, Black History Month, Greek Week, International Dinner, Kwanzaa, Week of Welcome, Honors Day, International Week, and Midnight Breakfast. These traditions represent an important sense of community and companionship for the students at Georgia College & State University.

Week of Welcome-WoW is a week-long welcoming period that helps the Freshman and new transfer students of the university to meet classmates, faculty and staff, and to better understand the University and its procedures. Activities include social events as well as seminars and workshops designed to help ease the transition from high school.
Homecoming- Homecoming week includes a community service event, trivia night, murder mystery show, concert, parade, Tent City, Mr. and Ms. GCSU, and the Homecoming basketball game. Homecoming is a time for students, alumni, faculty and staff to celebrate Georgia College pride.
Bobcat Marketplace-The Bobcat Marketplace is an organization fair. Seven times a year, student organizations are given the opportunity to welcome new and prospective students to campus.
Black History Month-Black History Month started as Negro History Week in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, the father of Black History study. This event celebrates the contributions of Africans and those of African descent to the progress of humanity in general, and to the development of the United States in particular. Black History Month, which is during the month of February, is recognized through seminars, films, presentations, exhibits, speeches, lectures, and historical information.
Hanging of the Greens-The lighting of the buildings along the front lawn, known as Hanging of the Greens, is a special event held each year on the first Thursday of December. It includes a formal ceremony where four dignitaries symbolically light each building. Students groups are invited to setup tables to discuss various holiday traditions and sometimes share food related to their tradition. Some of the traditions include Kwanzaa, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Winter Solstice.
