Brandon "YoungStarr" Henshaw Dallas, TX (May 6, 2011) Brandon Henshaw or more commonly known as “YoungStarr” was born May 10th, 1989 in Miami, Florida. The white, black and Puerto Rican mixed child was raised in North Carolina until his teenage years, then moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana at age 14. In 2003, he made his transition to Arlington, Texas where he soon graduated from Mansfield Summit High School. Growing up, basketball has always been a big part of his life, from his 4th grade YMCA days.“I started playing basketball and it just came naturally,” Brandon recalls. At Mansfield Summit, his impressive basketball skills moved him up to varsity towards the end of his sophomore year and he never looked back. One of the highlights of his senior year in 2007 Midwestern State University offered him a basketball scholarship where he would attend in fall of 2007. These plans quickly changed as Starr became involved with the wrong crowd. He was arrested and faced a felony charge in Ft. Worth, TX. Though he served only a month, this would be enough to change plans and ruin his chances of attending Midwestern State University. It is when everything went downhill that Starr managed to find a light in the darkness and a safe haven in producing and making beats. “My beats were trash. At that point I was just trying to get someone to rap on them”. B-Hamp, a rapper and friend of Starr’s who attended Mansfield Summit as well and also attended Mansfield Timberview, agreed to rap on one of YoungStarr’s beats. “Matter fact he was the first one to ever rap on one of my beats”. This resulted in the production of B-Hamp’s hit single ‘Ricky Bobby’. B-Hamp had a connection with a manager at CKB Entertainment who actually was B-Hamp’s manager. He soon began to manage Youngstarr as well. Starr soon had to leave and have new manager of Polar Hitz Entertainment, negotiated a way for him to leave the binding contract. Starr wanted to elevate his career and felt as Polar Hitz was holding him back and currently manages himself. Youngstarr is starting to make a name for himself as producer, having produced for many local Dallas artists, as well being put on the map nationally. His resume includes hits such as “Mr. Cirque” by CSB, “She Can Ride My Face”, “Ricky Bobby”, and “Bubble Gum”. Not to mention two hits featured on artist Plies’ new mixtape, “In Da Building” and “F______ You.” With YoungStarr’s accomplishment list growing on a local level, he has managed to elevate his skills with big name artists such as: Lil Wayne, Plies, Lil Boosie, Gorilla Zoe, Lil Twist, Lil Flip, Beat King, Young Juiice, B-Hamp, Tarzzahn, CSB, and C-Boyd. And it doesn’t stop there! Youngstarr is now producing records for Rick Ross, Waka Floka, Drake, Webbie and more.
