The Sanctuary of truth (Thai:ปราสาทสัจธรรม), is a wood building which is a hybrid of temple and castle based on Ayutthaya period and Buddhist, Hindu beliefs. The Sanctuary of truth was built of quality wood such as Mai Daeng and teakwood designed by Mr. Lek Viriyahphan.[1] Inside the building, handcraft wood sculpture placed all over the place to determine the beauty of each character. The building has been under construction for more than 20, and even the development is going on, people can still visit the beautiful things and done the activities safely. The form of the building was tetrahedron (The cathedral). According to the leading site, the interior space was up to 2,115 square meters, not only just that, but the central apex was 105 meters tall and 100 meters wide in four directions from the center point.

Name

Thailand's world-famous architecture. The design of The Sanctuary was inspired by the temples in Ayutthaya.[2] The whole building is built with wood, and delicate carving is done by hand. The castle build by Mr.Lek Viriyaphan(Thai:เล็ก วิริยะพันธุ์) (passed away in 2000[3]), the founder of the ancient city and Erawan elephant museum. Inside and out, every surface of the structure is decorated with many intricate Eastern sculptures from the Thai, Hindu, Chinese, and Khmer traditions all carved[4]. The main idea of the building is making people do the good thing, avoid evil thing and philosophies that teach us a different way of living and fulfillment that modern life can’t offer. The building wants to show the beauty of historical of thailand and religion.

History

The building has been under construction now for more than 20 years since 1981, and it might take multiple more years until it will be completed.[5] Even the place was still under construction people can be toured and experienced all the activities safely. The woodcarving techniques of the, people will develop year though the year. The instructor wants people to view the improvement and the finest carving art. This is one of the reasons that it still under construction. The architectural style of the structure is inspired by Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. Different kind of wood has been selected so that each part of the castle have a different texture and the wood can remain long. The oldest wood that has been used is takien wood. It has used to build the main post and lasts for 600 years.[6]


Physical description

The Four-Face Brahma Statue on the Rooftop represented for showing respect to father, mother, teacher, and the king. Brahma will protect the one who believes, and one of the three major gods of Hindus. The Northern Hall represents the wisdom of emancipation from positive thinking. The meaning was to gather all the positive thinking to give and did not expect anything for return. There were many craved sculptures, such as Guanyin and many more in the north hall. The Southern hall represents the planets, the sun, and the moon were all influences on the environment and way of life and to tell that everything needs each other. Sun – status, Moon – sense, Mars – intelligence, Mercury – gentleness, Jupiter – wisdom, Venus – wealth, Saturn – suffering. The Western Hall told the story of four elements, Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire, which are the source of everything on Earth, and sculpture of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, the god who conquer the four elements. Ancient Eastern pearls of wisdom, like the belief that materialistic things and temporary, while truth, goodness, and happiness are eternal. All the stories are told through the carvings. Eastern Hall exhibits round relief sculptures of father, mother, love, mercy, and all the thing reflection from generation to generation. At its highest point, the wooden structure is over 100 meters high and makes for an impressive sight against the backdrop of the Gulf of Thailand.[6]

Activities

The Sanctuary of truth provided activity and things to explore. Before going inside the castle, there is a viewpoint near the castle that can see the whole building float on the sea.[6] The main focus was to see visual exhibitions of important eastern religious concepts and the cycle of life.carriage touring. They are guide tour for foreigners in other three different languages, Russia, Chinese, and English, so everyone can perceive the correct concept completely.[5] The others activities such as elephant riding, ATV touring, a boat trip around coastal line, Art, and tradition show, Martial art show and Dolphin show. The showtimes started 11:30 am and 3:30 pm just twice a day. The showed will be about Thai cultural dance and martial arts performance. The fee for this was included in the ticket. The martial arts performance show gave the audience a chance to be in the act of sword fight. Wood carving workshop - we will see the craftsman in action of wood carving, learn how the grand castle was built by ancient wood-joining techniques. Souvenir shopping: Beautiful wood-carved statues can be purchased at the souvenir shop and many little gifts as a signature of Pattaya Thailand. The restaurant is at the sight of the sea, got a beautiful view opened from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. The main focus was to see visual exhibitions of important eastern religious concepts and the cycle of life. At the end of the tour, there were souvenir story that you could purchase.[7]

The form of the building are tetrahedron (The cathedral). The indoor space is up to 2,115 square meters. The main structure was made of only with high-quality wood Only hardwood such as Xylia xylocarpa (Thai:ไม้แดง), Mai-Takien, Mai-Panchart, and teakwood.

Facilities for disable

The building provide slope path, bathroom, elevator, and car service for disabling. [8]

FEES

The entrance fee is 500 baht for adults and 250 for the child. It is open daily from 8 am until 5 pm. The Sanctuary of truth had many religion belief, so inappropriate clothes were not allowed. When step inside the area, vests, short skirts, or see-through clothes are not permitted. Dress conservatively, if possible.[6]

The Sanctuary of Truth is located at 206/2 Moo 5, Soi Naklua 12, Near Naklua sea. North Pattaya Chonburi. The

car will not pass that road. The car needed to get to the destination. You can hire a motorbike or taxi.[6]
